While having dinner in the cafeteria, the conversation took a twist and we ended up discussing the old doordarshan serials. The ones we remember and the ones we don’t. It was the time before Zee TV and Star TV came into being. All of us agreed on the point that all these oldies were far more sensible then the crappy sas bahu sagas we are tortured with today. In fact all of us enjoyed watching those soaps. I didn’t watch much TV that time also, but I was able to recall a few names.

My favorite was Malgudi days based on the writings with the same name by R K Narayan. The sketches that used to come in the credit roll were awesome. I can still remember them. And the Taana na taana na na naaa tune is still fresh in my mind! Amazing, I will say.

My other favorite was Jungle book based on the book with same name by Rudyard Kipling. I was so in love with the central character of the cartoon series that I named my newly born brother Mowgli (the name of the boy in the cartoon serial). And I used to like Jageera and Bhaaloo too! So was the madness that I used to wait for the serial every Sunday morning. And mind it, very religiously I used to wait. I used to get up early in the morning, finish my entire daily chore (including homework) and then sit along with my brother in front of TV set and wait for the jungle jungle baat chali hai theme song!

Next come Disney hour. I remember Ballooo from Tailspinand Loui Doui from Duck tales. This one was also my favorite.

Then there was the other sensible and meaningful ones like Udaan. Udaan was considered to be based

on the life of Kiran Bedi. The lead actress Kavita Joshi became really famous after this serial.

And how can one forget the great Mahabharta and Ramayana. I don’t remember much but my mom tells me that people used to leave all their work to watch these serials. The roads used to be all deserted. The shops used to be all closed. One can consider these two serials to be most famous and widely watched in the history of Doordarshan.

There were some others like Sea hawks, Nukkad, Chandrakanta, Chankya, Vyomkesh Bakshi and many more.

There was also a soap called Humlog. This can be considered to be phenomenal in the history of Indian television. I rarely watched it, but then , I have studied about this in my Media history classes and so, I can call it the first ever soap opera on Indian television.

I also remember a serial known as Stone boy. I hardly remember anything about this one but for a small kid. I used to find this one very mysterious. May be because of its theme music.

Any way, I can can go on and on.

The cruxes of the post is- most of Doordarshan serials, if not all, were worth watching and are worth remembering.

People suggested me that wordpress is a better tool to blog. It may be. But since the day I have shifted to wordpress, I am actually blogging very less. Either I am getting lesser time to crib about things, or I am just being a lazy ass.

Lets say i am really busy these a days.

And I am still not feeling like to tell you about all the new things happening in my life! Not good Ruchika!

Any way, I am reading a lot these a days, I am traveling a lot these a days, I am working a lot these a days.

Have finished with two books in the last fifteen days. Still reading two!

Have been to Agra a few days back.

And the people at insti are making me work like anything. From 9 in the morning till 5 in the evening I am just speaking, speaking and speaking! Well, I would say thats a part of my job. Or should I say my future job!

Leave it.

The people at insti have finally decided where they will be putting us after two months. Most of my classmates are going for reporting but I have chosen programing instead. And I am very happy about this.

Well…I am getting bored now. So I will stop it here only.

Lets hope I will update this space more frequently…!

What should singles do on valentine’s day???
Me and a bunch of friends were having a discussion on the same in cafeteria. We were thinking about all kind of options. Some of them are:
a) get some booze in the insti only and have fun.
b) sneak into the basement parking of the insti building and watch the couples making out there.
c) have a gals night out.
d) be daring and open the cans of beer on the road and get drunk.
e) attend the classes, write scripts, come home, have food and hit the sack.

I think option (e) suits me best!!!

Had a great weekend.
Saturday was fun, so was Sunday. Went to Suhasini’s place. She cooked a great meal….( ok i agree, you manage to cook well!!). Then went to Nizam’s at CP, the kathi roll was as yummy as always. Went to Ambiance mall. Did shopping. Came back to Suhasini’s pad and slept like a baby.
And today was usual. Yeah..there was a change. We had voice and speech culture class today.
This was the first of the ten session series. The guy who tried to teach us things about voicing was kinda fun to be with. As people say that I have got a very different voice, am looking forward to these voice culture sessions.
Ok…mommy is calling me…I should behave like an obedient daughter and must go to have dinner.
By the way, I AM AN OBEDIENT DAUGHTER!!!
Ha Ha Ha Ha …….

It feels I am back to school. These people at my insti are giving us homework every single day!
And I hardly get any time for myself. I wake up at like 7 in the morning, get ready and reach my insti by 9. Get back by 7 in the evening, get fresh and have food and watch some tv (thats also a part of my homework you see). and around 9 or so I sit down to write scripts…and till 11-11:30 I write scripts only!! And then sleep takes over and I again get up around 7 the next day. Again the same routine.
So the crux of the post is I AM A FREAKING BUSY BEE these a days!
And I am lovin’ it!
